The following are pictures of a boxwood that was at the cottage that
actually got hit by lightning. We swapped the lightning struck one with
the healthy one that was at the back of the outhouse. They are both living
well after all the rain we had in the spring of 2003.

At least twice a year I bring in huge truckloads of horse or cow manure
from nearby farms. We then use this manure source to build our compost
piles with. In the second and third picture you can see Laura (who apprentices
at the Josephine Porter Institute for Applied Biodynamics) showing our
apprentices how to put the BD compost preps into a compost pile. We cover
our piles with a top tex fabric that helps wick
away extra water, holds in heat and helps to balance the air flow and moisture
in a pile.

In the spring of 2003 we removed the sod from around part of Ron's
house for the installation of some perennial flower beds.
