Answer: From the FDA website: “The VFD final rule outlines the process for authorizing use of VFD drugs (animal drugs intended for use in or on animal feed that require the supervision of a licensed veterinarian) and provides veterinarians in all states with a framework for authorizing the use of medically important antimicrobials in feed when needed for specific animal health purposes.”
Kelp has never required the supervision of a veterinarian for feeding, is not a drug and is not be by this rule. It is always a good idea to keep your vet informed of all supplements fed to your animals and care should be taken feeding it to iodine sensitive animals like horses or cats, sticking to recommended doses and making sure the kelp is their only iodine source. Sincerely, Thorvin

Only learned about Thorvin Kelp about a year ago, after a particularly difficult kidding season. My herd has really turned around! We feed Thorvin free choice all the time, and the goats LOVE it! They are stronger, healthier and have better condition than ever before. Very few problems with parasites since they can eat as much as they like and/or need! This year we've had very few problems with kids, they have been healthy and strong and better deliveries overall. I will never be without Thorvin Kelp!!
We make our own dog food and add this for nutritional value. Our chickensite thrive on it as well!
My cows have had so many benefits from Thorvin Kelp. Less pink eye issues. Well worth the money!
I feed this to all of my animals and they love it! Great results!
My goats love Thorvin kelp. I am a total newbie to raising goats and the woman I bought mine from gave me a small plastic tub of it and said it was great for their immune system. So far, I'm impressed! I sprinkle it on top of their twice daily grain feed but they'll also gobble it right out of my hand. I recently had someone help me trim their hooves and she used to raise goats and was very impressed with how pretty my goats' coats are and how healthy they are. She was asking what I was feeding them and then said she'd heard that kelp was good for them. I tried a less expensive brand but my goats were like, "Meh [literally]. It's OK, but where's the good stuff?" The only thing I would change about this product is the incredibly high shipping cost. For those with a very small herd, it hurts to have to pay so much for shipping. Love the product, though!
My goats love it and increases their appetite and mineral consumption. Also my cat and dogs eat it like we eat a great meal.
No one in my area sells kelp and this has been the best I could find in bulk with shipping. Plus, its organic so that makes it better. It was here in a few days after ordering. I've been feeding it free choice to my dairy goats and layers. My large dogs get a teaspoon a day ontop of food. Everyone is happy all around!
Shopping around I could not find organically certified kelp up here in Michigan for a reasonable price this was by far the best value but also a more superior product to other kelp choices. I feed to my Cows, Goats, Egg and Meat chickens and have recently started feeding to my Dogs.
