Great spring cover crop grows 3-4' tall, peas smother weeds better than spring-sown clover. Can fix 100+ lbs N/acre. Grow alone or mix with small grain like spring oats. 4010 Forage Peas are speckled forage peas that produce large amount of biomass. Excellent forage yields and stand-ability. Not suitable for grain production. Provides exceptional nutrition when chopped in combination with a small grain. Pea tendrils add a flair of color to your salad mixes, and dried yellow peas can be used in soups.
Seeding Rate: Plant in spring, sow 5 lb./1,000 sq.ft. (200 lb./acre) alone, or 3 lb./1,000 sq.ft. (120 lb./acre) mixed with 75-100 lbs/acre of vetch and/or oats, winter rye, or ryegrass. Guard N inoculant recommended.
