A warm-season annual grass, grows rapidly to 4-5 feet in two months and chokes out weeds. Grow your own mulch, and cut it at ground level shortly after head emergence before the crop sets mature seed. Till stubble to prevent regrowth and plant a fall cash or cover crop.

1/4 - 1/2 inch deep at 20 - 30 lb/acre (8 - 12 oz/1,000 sq ft) anytime after last frost until the summer solstice. Later sowings yield much less biomass.
