Cool-season flowering broadleaf with frilled fern-like leaves & purple flowers. Considered an insectary plant. Excellent pollinator forage species. Used extensively in Europe for bee forage. One of the top 20 honey producing flowers. Excellent cold & drought tolerance. Produces abundant biomass & conditions soil, leaving excellent structure & aggregation. Utilizes excess N in the soil to prevent leaching. Needs good soil to seed contact.
