Overview

Made from calcined kaolin clay, this white coating for plant surfaces suppresses insect pests and reduces heat stress and sunburn. Use on fruit and nut trees, vegetables, and field crops prior to infestation and as protection. Developed by the USDA, its micro-particulates link together to form a semi continuous porous "particle film" barrier that protects your fruits, vegetables and foliage but doesn't block light.

Tank mixes with most other pest control products except dormant oil. Mixes well with lime-sulfur and wettable sulfur used for disease control. It is best to apply when bees are not actively foraging. Repeat applications as needed.

The clay spray successfully reduced sun damage--important in this heat . It also prevented insects from attacking the garden. A smaller-than-25-pound package would have been useful. Would buy it again.

Fantastic Product

Trying to Repulse Grasshoppers Early Swarm Attack

I garden in an arid rural area, surrounded by pasture-lands. My garden is frequently under attack as being an "oasis" of green vegetation. This late spring was especially bad - with an extreme explosion in grasshopper hatch. I did not plan appropriately and had plants that were not set up to physically cover (i.e. Agribon). I've utilized Surround WP on those plants. I found it reasonably effective in reducing damage on most plants. Unfortunately, the herbs (namely basil, thyme, marjoram) suffered damage even after ongoing applications.

I like using Surround WP. I like the fact that it is easily emulsified and can surprisingly be sprayed with normal spray equipment. I would say it is a good tool to have in the arsenal, and I look forward to using it in the future as I try to garden in this challenging place.
