Vicia villosa- Hardy, viny, winter annual legume, attaining a height of 24 inches when planted alone and higher when planted with a tall companion crop that provides structural support for climbing. Plant in the fall, cold tolerant, flowers in April and ripens seed in May-June. Used as a cover crop, green manure, pasture, silage, and hay. It is capable of contributing large amounts of soil organic matter and nitrogen to a following crop. Fixes 90 - 120 lbs. N/Acre.

It is best to first inoculate the seed just before planting with the Exceed Inoculant. Most farmers plant hairy vetch at 30-40 lb/acre when sown alone, and 25 lb/acre when sown with rye. We recommend mixing rye and vetch together for maximum organic matter & weed suppression.
