Parboiled rice hull is a renewable resource that is a good alternative to perlite and vermiculite as well as being less dusty. Parboiled rice hulls have a pH near neutral to slightly alkaline. The rices hulls have little effect on the substrate pH. It is free from viable weed seed. Each 50 lb bag is about 7 cubic feet.

Soil Mixes: Add 20-30% rice hulls to soil mix
Weed Control in Containers: Add 1/2 to 1 inch of rice hulls.

Quality is as described, no surprises there. I don't know why but it's hard to find rice hulls at a reasonable price for gardening. I suspect it has to do with beer brewing also using them. Rice hulls are by far my favorite solid amendment, if you haven't tried them get some. Anyway, what made me come to write a review is the fact that I could get this shipped for a reasonable price and very fast.
